There are many primary schools in the West Sussex area with outstanding Ofsted reports. We wouldn’t suggest you discount those who aren't outstanding schools; it’s worth doing your research making use of websites that offer parent to parent feedback, as well as looking at the Ofsted reports.
Secondary schools in the area have limited catchment areas and you would be wise to keep this in mind when house hunting.
There are also a good number of excellent independent schools.

Normandy, Horsham, Southwater, Ashurst, Storringon, Washinton, Graffham, West Dean, Washinton, Aldinbourne, Downview, Brighton, Hove, Lancing, Worthing, Felpham
State Secondary schools are more difficult in West Sussex but some of those with excellent Ofsted reports are located in Midhurst, Horsham, Burgess hill, Billingshurst, Shoreham and Chichester
There are many both preparatory and secondary schools. Some of those to consider include Wesbourne House, Windlesham House, Lancing College, Christ’s Hospital, Hurstpierpoint, Handcross Park, Cottesmore School, Great Walstead School, Ardingly College, Cumnor House and Brambletye
