If you want the best of two worlds: Close to London yet within reach of a rural location with open fields, sheep/horses in fields and riverside park/walks. A great community spirit, variety of small family shops and a large Waitrose. Choice of two stations with trains to Waterloo (1/2 hour) every 15 minutes the Hersham has to be your choice. Close to Heathrow and Gatwick, M3/M25/A3 and just 15 miles from the centre of London but in the Surrey countryside. Three junior/infant all through schools, six form academy and private school. Lots of local organisations for the whole family plus 5 Churches. It must be Hersham (of international fame – Sham 69 – Hersham Boys

There are four state schools in Hersham which is close to Walton on Thames
Two of the schools Burhill and Bell Farm are changing to all through schools -5 to 11 as from September 2013. Both school have excellent reputations and also have good PTAs. The main Secondary school for the area is Rydens Enterprise Academy which is also in Hersham 11 -18 with a fine six form.
Cardinal Newman Junior school is in Arch road Hersham and is a Catholic school. This school also has a good reputation.
There are a large number of playgroups in the area. When buying a property in Walton on Thames, check out it is actually in Walton as local estate agents tend to get their geographical facts wrong. Check out the web site http://www.walton-on-thames.org/forum where many local people contribute and are always willing to answer local questions.
