Hi. Does anyone here know anyone who can recommend any local primary schools in the Lechlade area of Gloucestershire. I’m needing to get a reception place for September. Thanks for any help you can give!

Hi. The most local is St Lawrence Primary School in Lechlade. It has a very good reputation. Others nearby are: Southrop Primary School; Hatherop Primary School; Kempsford Primary School – all have good reputations. The latter 3 are smaller than St Lawrence. Privately, there is a prep school Hatherop Castle School. All can be found on Google. Good luck!

    Hello there
There is also a private prep school called St Hugh’s which is about 10 minutes from Lechlade near Faringdon. Really lovely school….Good luck!

You are quite spoilt for great schools near Lechlade. St Lawrence in Lechlade has a great reputation. Southrop – lovely head but tiny – one classroom for Reception – year 2 and one classroom for year 3-6. Meysey Hampton is a lovely school (smaller than St Lawrence and in a sweet village so more rural) – very musical/arty head. Hatherop Primary good school too – sweet with chickens, great productions. Private wise – St Hughs or Hatherop Castle – the latter I would say is more family feel. If you are going to be in Lechlade, I would personally try for St Lawrence – so great to be able to walk to school and have local friends. The smaller schools have composite classes – If going for a smaller more rural school – I would try to find one where Reception are on their own – for example Meysey Hampton – rather than being together with Year 1.
    Good luck
