Hi we are looking to move out of london soon and probably to my old home town of Doncaster which has its positives as i know the area and have friends and family there. I moved to london after falling in love with a southerner lol and up until a year ago would have moved without hesitation, however my 4 yr old is in school and i feel like im part of this community but we have two small children and need more space.
i am worried about ethnic diversity as we are a mixed race family and so am struggling to imagine life back north? friends are prob not in the same situation anymore? i have narrowed down an area that is walking distance to town, more cultured schools and good house for money but it also has crime high spots and prostitution??? i am going to have to compromise and worried that its nicesafe area vs cultural diversity/action???
any thoughts?
also when i moved to london (didnt know anyone) it has taken me 2 yrs at least to feel ok then a further 4 yrs to feel like home so stick with it?
we stayed in Ashbourne recently and i found it to be lovely and not bad for commuting – however much we would love to move to Derbyshire we have to consider ethnic diversity as we are a duel heritage family with small children?
if this isn’t an issue you will be fine? if anyone knows an area that is more culturally diverse please feel free to mention??
