Thank you for all your brilliant advice so far. I’m in late 20’s, fiancée is 40.. We both work freelance so no commute to consider. We want somewhere with some community spirit, some creative energy, and for the future we would hope it would suit us if we had a family. The reason we are considering moving from windmill hill is to start afresh in a new area together, as my fiancée has lived there for 7 years. We have a dog, so being under ten minutes walk from a park is vital, and being able to walk into the city centre would be a plus! Have viewed houses in Montpelier and have some viewings around Victoria Park to come.. Any more advice gratefully received – Celia

Hi Fabia- I used to live on Sunnyhill Road in Streatham. We were number 112 and the views from the back of the flat were amazing.. Never had virws like that in London before or since! The end nearer Streatham Hill rail had a nice vibe, good cafes, a lovely deli right by Station, Perfect Blend opposite where I used to go for coffee or dinner with a friend, a really good small veggie restaurant, Wholemeal, is well worth a visit. There’s a go od park, it’s well served by buses. My main worry living there was not being near a tube but it was no problem at all. I felt safe there, and there was quite a community of young families it seemed. It’s the next affordable place
    I suppose. Happy hunting.

I’d highly recommend Brixton for ‘buzzy’, I lived there for a couple of years and felt safe. Rent relatively cheap, lots going on. Good community feel. Moving back thre next month!
