    Hi

I’m looking for some help please.
We currently live in Penge/beckenham. Which has everything we want and is a lovely place to live. However my husband works in Slough and the 3 hour commute daily is killing us. My son starts school in September so we need to move asap.
So we are looking for somewhere that satellites the m25, but outside. Commutable to slough however he also does a lot of work in the studios in London.
It needs to be family friendly, good schools and a leisure centre and library. After seeing some lovely villages, loved great bookham but am concerned there’s not enough there. Thinking possibly dorking.
    Any help gratefully received.
Vetoed: guildford – too far, Marlow- too hilly, not sure we would fit in. Beaconsfield- too much rush hour traffic. Windsor – haven’t seen it but I can imagine it’s tourist full in the summer. Epsom – inside of London.

Feeling under pressure! Only have about £450-550 for 3 bed (can be semi or terrace. Large garden)

Laura HI. I think you may be underestimating your husband’s journey if you lived in Dorking and he worked in Slough. He would be using one of the most congested sections of the M25/M4 and getting onto the M25 can be a very time consuming task.

Farnham, Fleet, Church Church Crookham, Camberley,Sandhurst, Bracknell, as examples, and other places south (or North) of the M4 may make mores sense. Even from there, Slough can be a journey in rush hour. But those locations mentioned all allow relatively easy train access to London.

Thank you for your post. Indeed we have now realised this too! Searching around wokingham but not sure where!! Love wokingham but can’t find houses and schools that we like within walking distance to town centre. So back at square one! I would like a house with good primary and secondary school catchments and a little shops like a coffee shop and bank. Am asking too much? I don’t want to have to drive to the local park or primary school. Pls help.

    Hi Laura
Have you looked at Crowthorne or South Ascot? Both have got a great community spirit, excellent parks and shops.

    Hi meirion

Thank you for your suggestions – no we haven’t looked at those places. To be honest with you my husband has been talking about ascot but I can’t imagine we can afford anything there. Also is it not very very busy on race days?
I know very little about crowthorne apart from I think broadmore is around there. Does it have impact at all? I guess I’m just a bit nervy if someone escaped!

Thank you again for your help
    Laura
