Shrewton is a lovely village – with, I am told, a very good community spirit. It is rather full of old Royal Artillery officers – but they are mostly utterly charming. You will indeed hear the Army on the Plain – however, I do not think they bring the big vehicles through the village and you do get used to the occasional ‘bangs’. The countryside around it is glorious, with walks galore and plenty of picnicing opportunities. The A303 is very close by with access to both London and Devon. There is a thriving shop in the village and a garage, sadly the laundry has closed down. Nearby are both Devizes and Salisbury, both good for shopping and entertainment. I live about 5 miles away and LOVE it. Amesbury would be your closest shopping place – a Co-op and huge Tescos and on Solstice Park there are various food outlets (fast ones sadly). Good pubs around if you are in to that. Hope this helps.
