Hi everyone. I’m leaving my job in London in 2 weeks and planning a move to Exeter (via Somerset where my parents live and where i will have to stay until i find a new job/home in Exeter). Does anyone have any tips? I will be renting and also it’s just me, a single 36 year old, so i will need to make new friends as well as a new life! Excited but scared too! Hope to hear from some of you.

Hi, great to hear you are moving to Exeter. There are plenty of good property rental companies based in the City catering for all style of properties. Do you want to live right in the city or in one of the surrounding villages? What line of work are you in? Happy to give you the names of any contacts in your field if I can. I moved down from Surrey in 1989 and have never looked back. I don’t live right in the City and am about 5 miles out but it only takes a less than 10 mins to be parked right in the middle of Exeter and my daughter is at school in Exeter so very easy. Anyway, let me know if I can help with contacts, locations etc. Not sure how well you know the area? Kind regards, Debbie

    Hi Ronni
I haven’t lived there but worked in the centre for 8 years. I saw all the new Princeshay development taking place and the stature of the university grow. Now as i visit the estate agents as part of my job and love going there as it is a very vibrant place. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it. Christy

    Hi Ronnie,
Very exciting time for you. We wish you the best of luck. Exeter is a great place to be, lots going on. Exeter Living magazine has great ‘What’s On’ pages, here’s a link to the latest edition.
We all think you’ve made an excellent choice for your relocation, and hope we may be of some help in the future!

@ExeterStJames have responded via Twitter, “of course l would suggest living in St James”. Maybe worth checking out?
