    Hi
We moved out of London a few years ago after my redundancy & to be nearer family for our 2 kids (now 7 and 5). We moved to the beautiful village of Foxton, just outside Market Harborough in south Leicestershire. Wanting to still be within easy travel of London (due to wife’s job) & to see friends, shows, etc. but plenty of rural life locally, it’s a perfect combination of the 2 worlds.

I ran my new business from home, & the village is close to the bustling town of Market Harborough, plus the A6 for easy trip into Leicester or Northamptonshire. Our son walked past cows & sheep to the village school, & our daughter went down a quiet lane to a brilliant nursery.
Grandparents close by,regular trains just 60 mins into St Pancras – everything seemed perfect.

But – unfortunately our circumstances changed: due to very ill relative, change of job location & other personal reasons we are forced to up sticks & return to London, not what we’d planned at all. We had buyer for our house lined up & were all set-up to move end of Aug as had got kids in at excellent London school where places were rare. Luck has not been on our side: chain fell apart & we had to move anyway, for school/job reasons so now we are in temp accommodation & are desperate to get a new buyer for our lovely home asap!

If you are of the same mind as us: wanting more space, much bigger house, want to try country life but fearful of feeling cut off/missing London then this is the perfect location. Near canals, several thriving pubs, a village shop for essentials, great nursery & primary (plus several famous rugby players you can bump into if that’s your thing!) Also, the tourist attraction of Foxton Locks is a walk away.

Do take a look – the house is beautiful and gigantic inside (5 beds & marvellous kitchen/dining space, great for parties). We admit it’s not your typical ‘chocolate box’ village house from the exterior – but it looks straight onto those sort including a lovely converted chapel, so who cares!

Seriously, we do encourage a viewing as we are gutted we had to move to London regardless of losing our buyer & its going to waste.

Hi john – sorry to hear of your situation and hope you find a great new family to buy your house- you never know who might see this. Meanwhile have you read the article on ‘selling your house’ – might be some useful information here for you. http://www.lifeafterlondon.com/useful-information/buyingselling-a-house/selling-your-house-you-need-to-read-this/

I should point out the house is still used as my place of business as I work from home but I’d be happy to arrange a viewing or simply contact the estate agents via the link I posted.
