We are both Londoners, and we’ve talked about moving out of London “one day” for many years, but we have been building up a business and bringing up children in London instead! If we were to move out we would need easy access to North London for our friends and family – and also for our business which we would drive to once/twice a week in North West London. So basically it would need to be somewhere in the North/West Home Counties.

We are looking for beautiful surroundings and a quieter lifestyle – BUT – the community would have to be really appealing to want to make the move, or we might not want to… I’m imagining cool, independent shops, arty, yoga, creative community. Nothing too old/full of retirees… Londoner mentality to diversity, multiculturalism and inclusivity. We were in Leamington Spa this weekend and it was lovely – but way too far away.

Can anyone recommend something not further than a 1 hour drive away from North – North/West London?

We have an 11 and 14 year old and would be looking for a well respected private, mixed secondary school (not necessarily academically selective).

I have family in Bucks – near Winslow/Stewkley.

    Thank you 🙂

    Hello Sam,
I live in West Hoathly, West Sussex, which is just 1 hour southeast of London, morning coffee relaxing in the garden with breathtaking views of the South Down, the views over farmland changes in the twinkling of an eye with light reflecting on the cloud formation. All within commuter belt radius 15 minutes from the train station, 50 minutes to Victoria and 40 minutes to London Bridge. Our house is on the edge of Winnie the Pooh Country Ashdown Forest. 30 minutes from Brighton and the south coast. Best of both worlds, lots of activities for children and teenagers, Yoga classes on site within our 25 acre private residence association, in the heart of the country, Village pubs, vibrant community spirit, great schools. Our 3 children went to both the local Village school and the 6th Form College in East Grinstead our local Town which hosts a weekly farmers market.
