Home in an Hour – where to live?

If you've decided you want to make the move but getting home quickly and relatively painlessly is critically important then you'll really want to focus your search in areas and you might consider an area where it is possible to be 'home in an hour'.  That's the phrase coined in a Country Life article.  The reality is it's might well take you just a bit longer - either end of the train but there are a few things that can make life a bit easier.  Critical things to consider are - 1.  distance from train station out of London 2.  arrival station in London in easy reach of your London office 3.  frequent and reliable trains at rush hours times 4. if you're willing to travel a bit further you might find you can get a seat. The areas that were mentioned by Country Life made the grade because of a number of criteria. They chose places within 15 minute drive of the station and only included places with a real community life.  There are plenty of places to buy a house but there is nothing going on, dormitory villages but the places on this list have maybe a village shop, often a pub, potentially a school and sometimes are a real hub of local activity. What suits one won't suit another - there's a cliched line in there somewhere but RESEARCH is king.  It's all about location, but which location suits you so that's where you have to concentrate.  Below is the list of the top 50, together with the additional options they suggested.  It's a really useful list so make...
